2-OXIDE-3-BENZALDEHYDE ISONICOTINYLHYDRAZONATO LIGANDS RELATED TO THAT IN THE TITLE COMPLEX, ARE ATTRACTING INTEREST IN THE CONTEXT OF CRYSTAL ENGINEERING ENDEAVOURS [1]. THUS FAR, THE ONLY LEAD ((II)) COMPLEX REPORTED WITH THIS CLASS OF LIGAND IS A BINUCLEAR COMPLEX WHERE THE PYRIDINE-N ATOM DOES NOT PARTICIPATE IN., COORDINATION [2,3]. THE PB ATOM IN THE POLYMERIC TITLE COMPOUND, {[PB(C13H9- N3O2)].CH3OH}N, IS FIVE-COORDINATED. THE COORDINATION GEOMETRY IS BASED ON A TRIGONAL BIPYRAMID WITH THE O ATOMS IN AXIAL POSITIONS. [(C13H9N3O2).CH3OH] LIGANDS RELATED TO THAT IN THE TITLE THIS COMPLEX ARE ATTRACTING INTEREST IN THE CONTEXT OF CRYSTAL ENGINEERING ENDEAVOURS [2].THE THERMAL STABILITY OF COMPOUND BOTH ITS BULK AND NANO-SIZE HAS BEEN STUDIED BY THERMAL GRAVIMETRIC (TG) AND DIFFERENTIAL THERMAL ANALYSES (DTA) AND COMPARED EACH OTHER. CALCINATION WITH AND WITHOUT SURFACTANT OF THE NANO-SIZED COMPOUND AT 400 °C AND 250 °C UNDER AIR ATMOSPHERE YIELDS LEAD ((II)) OXIDE NANOPARTICLES. NANO OXIDE LEAD ((II)) WAS CHARACTERIZED AND ANALYSIED BY SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY, X-RAY POWDER DIFFRACTION, IR SPECTROSCOPY.

Abstract:

Transport of Pb ((II)) ion from equimolar aqueous solutions of Pb ((II)), Cu ((II)) and Cd ((II)) as well as from aqueous solutions containing only Pb ((II)) source phase (Cmetal=1.0×10-4 mol L-1) through bulk liquid membranes containing crown ether and oleic acid as carrier has been investigated. The initial fluxes of transported metal ions depend on the hydrophile–lipophile balance (HLB) and molar volumes (Vx) of crown ethers. The initial fluxes of Pb ((II)), Cu ((II)), and Cd ((II)) decrease with increase of HLB value for azacrown ether, i.e., tetraaza-14-crown-4 (A414C4), L1>benzo-15-crown-5 (B15C5), L2>4'-Aminobenzo-15C5, L3>nitrobenzo-15-crown-5 (NB15C5), L4. The selectivity of the metal ions showed the following separation factors (SF): SFPb–Cu=2.15, SFCu–Cd=2.10, SFPb–Cd=4.52. The highest transport recovery for Pb ((II)) was observed for L1 (99.3%).

Abstract:

In this study, the assumption was that the samples of Diogenes avarus are oriented to the empty shell of Gastropods based on visual information, and exposure to Pb pollutant, affects this ability. So, the orientation behavior towards the lateral and reverse sides of empty shells of four species of gastropods was studied in two groups of hermit crab, D. avarus, exposed to Pb and unexposed to Pb (Healthy) in a round environment. Healthy samples showed a significant orientation to the lateral and reverse side of Gastropod Umbonium vestiarium. While exposed samples showed the same orientation as the control group. Therefore, Pb pollutant has affected the behavior of visual orientation in samples. These observations may be due to the neurotoxin property or loss of energy by effect of detoxification and survival in conditions of stress.

Abstract:

DURING THE LAST TWO DECADES, THE RATIONAL DESIGN AND SYNTHESES OF NOVEL COORDINATION POLYMERS HAVE MADE CONSIDERABLE PROGRESS IN THE FIELD OF SUPRAMOLECULAR CHEMISTRY AND CRYSTAL ENGINEERING [1]. STRUCTURAL TRANSFORMATIONS WITH THE RETENTION OF SINGLE-CRYSTAL CHARACTER DIRECTLY REFLECT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE SOLIDS INVOLVED. STRUCTURAL TRANSFORMATION ALONG WITH ANION-REPLACEMENT IS INTERESTING TYPE OF SOLID STATE REACTIONS [2].

Abstract:

THE DESIGN OF CRYSTAL STRUCTURES AND CONTROL OF MOLECULAR ARRANGEMENTS OF COORDINATION POLYMERS HAS ATTRACTED MUCH ATTENTION IN RECENT YEARS [1], THE COORDINATION CHEMISTRY OF LEAD ((II)) WITH N DONOR LIGANDS HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED IN THE PAST DECADE AND FREQUENTLY DISCUSSED IN REGARD TO THE COORDINATION AND STEREO ACTIVITY OF THE VALENCE SHELL LONE ELECTRON PAIRS [2]. IT SHOULD BE EMPHASIZED THAT THERE ARE DIFFERENT METHODS TO SYNTHESIZE NANO- AND MICRO-CRYSTALLINE METAL OXIDE SUCH AS MICROWAVE-SOLVOTHERMAL SYNTHESIS, HYDROTHERMAL ROUTE AND SURFACTANT LIGAND CO-ASSISTING SOLVOTHERMAL SYNTHESIS [3]. HEREIN WE REPORT THE PREPARATION OF NOVEL 1D POLYMERIC LEAD ((II)) COMPOUND, AND ITS USE IN THE PREPARATION OF PBO NANO-PARTICLES. THE PBO NANOPARTICLES WERE OBTAINED BY THERMOLYSIS OF 1D COORDINATION POLYMER AT 800 °C. THE PBO NANOPARTICLES CHARACTERIZED BY FT-IR, XPRD, AND SEM. THE SEM SHOWS THAT THE SIZE OF THE PBO PARTICLES IS ~30 NM.

Abstract:

The removal of the most prevalent heavy metal ions [cadmium((II)), LEAD((II)), copper((II)), and zinc((II))] by adsorption on Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) biochar and Silver birch (Betula pendula) biochar has been investigated, following the determination of physical and chemical adsorption properties of biochar. The efficiency of adsorption of heavy metal ions [cadmium((II)), LEAD((II)), copper((II)), and zinc((II))] on biochar was studied at different concentrations of heavy metals [onefold maximum contaminant level, twofold maximum contaminant level, fivefold maximum contaminant level (in accordance with the requirements set out in the Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC), dosages of biochar (1.6-140 g), and biochar types (Scots pine (P. sylvestris L.) biochar and Silver birch (B. pendula) biochar produced at slow and fast pyrolysis) at constant pH of leaching solution, temperature, and contact time. Adsorption capacity of Scots pine (P. sylvestris L.) biochar and Silver birch (B. pendula) biochar was assessed by the application of extended Freundlich isotherm. In this study, biochar was evaluated as a potential adsorbent to efficiently reduce concentration of heavy metal ions in metal-contaminated water. The maximum adsorption capacity were reached of copper((II)) on Silver birch (B. pendula) biochar (128.7 mg g-1) and of zinc((II)) on Scots pine (P. sylvestris L.) biochar (107.0 mg g-1). Adsorption capacity of LEAD ((II)) on Silver birch (B. pendula) and Scots pine (P. sylvestris L.) biochar varied from 1.29 to 3.77 and from 2.37 to 4.49 mg g-1, respectively.
